What's new in RemoteAccessApp this month: October 2026

The first days of October brought a busy run of releases, from version 0.11.6 to 0.12.16. Installed apps have already updated themselves, so you probably have most of this. Here's what changed, grouped by what it means for you rather than by version number.

By the RemoteAccessApp team ·

Sessions that stay connected

  • Sessions reconnect by themselves. If the connection drops, the app shows Reconnecting and picks up again on its own, still following the PC's usual permission rules. A dropped connection is noticed in seconds, and the app shows Waiting for the PC instead of a frozen picture.
  • Network changes, such as moving from Wi-Fi to mobile data, are recovered from automatically.
  • Connection health shows live speed, delay and quality during a session, with a one-click low-bandwidth mode for poor connections.
  • Interrupted file transfers resume from the last good point instead of starting over, and paused copies show a Resume button.

More on keeping sessions up: remote desktop keeps disconnecting.

Simpler installs and quieter updates

  • One installer sets up both the Agent and the Console, just for you, with no admin rights and no Windows prompt. Updates install the same way.
  • Updates install themselves in the background, with 60 seconds' notice, and never while someone is connected to your PC. The update window now sits in the bottom-right corner, can be moved, and has a Hide button.
  • Set up this PC with a code: enter the 6-digit code from another device on the sign-in screen, without signing in on that PC.
  • Remove this PC from your account from the tray menu. Signing out of the app now removes the PC too, so nobody can reach it until you set it up again.
  • A short tour of the app the first time you sign in on a PC, and a searchable help center inside the app, linked from error messages.
  • The app now runs on the latest version of .NET, with everything it needs built in.

Wake up an offline PC

Press Wake up on an offline PC, in the app or on the website, and another of your PCs on the same network sends it the wake-up signal. It needs Wake-on-LAN switched on at the sleeping PC. How to set it up.

Management for Pro

  • Management arrived: tag your PCs and act on many at once. Run a saved script, restart, install Windows updates, or install and update apps with winget, right away or on a schedule that each PC keeps even while it's offline.
  • Every Management action shows the exact command first, and the person at the PC sees what runs.
  • A redesign with an overview of your PCs, ready-made tasks and a step-by-step way to run or schedule them.
  • Scripts in Management: create, edit, copy and delete scripts, sort them into groups and tags, and run or schedule any of them in a couple of clicks. Editing a script a schedule uses warns you first.
  • Quick tasks: your own one-click tasks, made from your scripts or any job, with the PCs and schedule you choose. Save as quick task turns anything you've set up into one.

Teams and activity

  • Team roles, custom roles, and permissions for each member on each PC: view, control, files, tools and more.
  • A team activity log, and an Activity page showing sessions, file transfers and changes on your PCs, which you can export.
  • PC history: keep notes on each PC and see a summary of its past sessions.

Setting it up: remote IT support for a small team.

For servers and SSH

  • Server-to-server file transfers, made easier to find with the Copy files tab and Copy files to another server in each server's menu. Upload the same files to many servers at once, too. Step by step.
  • SSH through an HTTP or SOCKS proxy. How to set it up.
  • Serial (COM port) connections, for the console ports of routers, switches and other devices.
  • A redesigned Connections tab with search, folders and sorting, Ctrl+K to find or connect to anything, and up to 8 sessions side by side, saved as workspaces that reopen with one click.
  • For SSH connections: edit a remote file in your own editor and save it straight back, see CPU, memory and disk graphs, and manage containers.
  • Type text: when paste doesn't work, for example in a server's management console, the app types your text key by key.
  • Your vault: choose which servers' passwords and keys are saved to it.

Access and security

  • Remembered browsers: the person at a PC can remember a browser for 1 hour to 7 days, or until they turn it off.
  • Unattended access follows your account: with two-step verification on, your own apps and browsers connect without a prompt on PCs where it's switched on.
  • An optional connection password for each PC, with Remember me.
  • Signing in on a new device without two-step verification asks for a code we email you, and the Allow prompt now shows the email of the account that's connecting.
  • The website shows a thumbnail of each screen, and its SSH terminal can reach computers on your own network through one of your PCs.
  • For accounts in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, Privacy & your data in Settings lets you choose about marketing emails and usage counting, download your data, or delete your account.
