Your data rights

It's your data. Here's what you can ask us to do with it, and the quickest way to do each thing. The legal details are in our Privacy Policy; what we keep is listed in Your data, in plain English.
These rights come from the GDPR (in the EU and the EEA), the UK GDPR, Switzerland's data protection act and, for access and correction, Australia's Privacy Act. Wherever you live, ask us and we'll help.
The quick way
If your account is in the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, sign in and open Privacy & your data in your dashboard. Everything there takes a minute:
- Your choices: turn product news by email and product analytics on or off.
- Download my data: a copy of what we keep about your account.
- Delete my account: with 14 days to change your mind.
The RemoteAccessApp app has the same choices in its settings. For cookies on our website, use "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page.
Anything else, or if you'd rather we did it for you: email [email protected] from the email address on your account, with "Privacy" in the subject.
Your rights, one by one
| You can… | What it means | How |
|---|---|---|
| See your data | Ask what we keep about you and get a copy | "Download my data" in the dashboard, or email us |
| Take it elsewhere | Get it in a format another service can read | "Download my data" gives you a ZIP of JSON files |
| Fix it | Correct anything that's wrong or missing | Change it in your dashboard or the app, or email us |
| Delete it | Have your account and its data deleted | "Delete my account" in the dashboard, or email us |
| Pause it | Ask us to only store your data, not use it, for example while we look into a complaint ("restriction") | Email us |
| Object | Ask us to stop using your data where we rely on our "legitimate interests", such as security statistics. We stop unless we have strong reasons that override yours, which we'll explain | Email us |
| Say no to marketing | Stop product news by email, any time | Turn it off in the dashboard or the app |
| Withdraw your consent | Take back a yes you gave us (product news, product analytics, the live chat, Meta's pixel), as easily as you gave it | The dashboard, the app, or "Cookie settings" on the website |
There's one thing we don't do: make decisions about you that are purely automatic and seriously affect you. If one of our automatic protections (like the sign-up check) gets in your way, email us and a person will look at it.
What happens when you delete your account
When you use "Delete my account", we check your password and ask you to type DELETE, so nobody does it by accident. Then:
- It's deleted 14 days later. Until then everything keeps working, and you can cancel in the same place.
- Pro is cancelled, so you won't be charged again. (Refunds follow our Refund Policy.)
- A team you own is deleted, and its members lose access to the PCs and hosts you shared.
- Your PCs are unenrolled: they leave your account, and nobody can connect to them through it.
- Your data is deleted: your account, PCs, saved hosts, synced passwords and keys, notes, alerts, settings and privacy choices.
A few things are kept for a limited time, because the law requires it or to protect the Service: security log entries until they expire (90 days), backups until they rotate out (14 days), and payment records as long as tax law requires. Notes you wrote on someone else's PC stay in that PC's history as "Former team member". If someone added your email address to their team, ask us and we'll remove it.
Want a copy first? Use "Download my data" before you delete.
How long it takes
We answer within one month. If a request is complicated, it can take up to two months more, and we'll tell you why within the first month. It's free.
So nobody else can get or delete your data, we may ask you to confirm it's you: usually by writing from the email address on your account, or by signing in.
If you're not happy
Tell us first at [email protected], and we'll try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, such as the one where you live or work.
