Changelog
What's new in RemoteAccessApp
What changed in each version of the Windows app, newest first. Installed apps update themselves, so you always have the latest. The app shows the same list under What's new.
New
- Sending files, browsing a PC's files and clipboard sync are now free with a free account.
- Restarts, Windows updates and saved scripts on many PCs at once are now free.
- Folders in Hosts can be nested, moved, renamed and filled from a right-click menu, and your PCs can go in folders too.
- Right-click a session tab and pick Duplicate (or press Ctrl+Shift+D) to open another tab to the same host.
- If an SSH session drops, it tries again by itself after 5 s, 10 s, then every 30 s, with a countdown. If the password is wrong, you can type the new one right there and save it.
- Each host shows where its sign-in comes from: the vault, the host itself, a key file, or asks each time.
- Run a command shows your saved scripts straight away, with search and a group filter.
- Scripts show their type (.ps1, .bat, .sh…) and can be filtered and grouped. Scripts that can't run on the PC or server you're on are hidden, with a Show link.
- Management, Teams, Windows tools and Activity are together in one place, with free tabs first.
- The sidebar can shrink to icons only, and live sessions now open in Connections.
Improved
- Sessions always open as tabs; the tiles view is gone.
- Adding a host: pick the protocol next to the address, and the folder you choose is kept.
- A cleaner Teams page, Sessions start page and AI assistants page.
- One right-click on a host or folder opens its menu, and the Your PCs list can be folded away.
- Pro features are clearly marked with a PRO badge.
- Bedtime is now part of Pro.
Fixed
- The maximize button sometimes showed the wrong state or disappeared on small windows.
- Help search didn't always put the best article first.

New
- App size: the app now fits your screen by itself, and you can make it smaller or bigger in Settings or with Ctrl+Minus, Ctrl+Plus and Ctrl+0.

- Management: type or paste a script straight into Run a task and schedules, no saved script needed.
- Management: select PCs by dragging, Shift+click, Ctrl+click or Ctrl+A.

- Connecting to SSH through one of your PCs finds the PC again after it was set up again, and skips the Allow prompt when a live session would.
- Linux Console: Restrict by IP and Check for updates in the PC menu.
- One code box on Home: type a 6-digit code to set up this PC, an 8-digit code to connect, or a help code.
- Add a PC is easier to find, on Home and in Devices, on Windows and Linux.
- Run a command on all the PCs you've selected in Devices.
- Connections: drag tabs to reorder them or move them to another pane, and the order is kept.
- Recent PCs say clearly why one can't be reached, and "Connect without asking" is listed on the PC with a Remove button.
- The live session no longer shows an extra bar at the top.
- Linux install notes now say Wayland works.
Fixed
- Small bug fixes.
New
- Faster in the US: PCs and people in North America now connect through the USA (Virginia).
- Every connection picks the fastest location for both of you at the moment you connect, with or without an account, in the app or in your browser.
Improved
- Connecting with a code, or to a PC that isn't signed in, now uses the closest location instead of always going through Australia.
- Help someone on the website connects through the location closest to you and the person you're helping.
- Changing your location in Settings > Connection now applies straight away to the PCs you have open. A session in progress switches when it ends.
- A session's connection details say which location it goes through and why.
Fixed
- Small bug fixes.
New
- Faster in Europe: PCs and people in Europe now connect through Germany (Frankfurt), so sessions are faster and smoother there.
- Choose where you connect through in Settings > Connection: Automatic picks the fastest location, or pick one yourself. Each location shows its ping.
Improved
- Connecting is quicker: the app remembers the fastest location and uses it straight away.
- Home, Teams, Management, Chat, File transfer, Windows tools, Activity, Devices and AI assistants use the whole window, with their buttons in one tidy bar instead of half-empty rows.
- Chat can message several PCs at once on Linux too.
- On small screens the left menu always fits, so the page you're on stays in view.
Fixed
- Small bug fixes.
New
- Connections has a new look: Hosts, Sessions, Copy files, Scripts and Keys & passwords across the top, with your hosts as cards you can search, filter and star.
- Sessions as tiles: every open session on one screen, SSH terminals, file browsers and remote desktops side by side. Click one to use it, double-click to make it full size. Prefer tabs? Switch with Tiles | Tabs.
- Cloned VMs join by themselves: clone a set-up virtual machine and each copy shows up in your account as its own PC, with the same settings.
- On a PC set up with a 6-digit code, the person at the PC can chat with whoever is connected, without signing in.
Improved
- Every page uses the whole window: cards and settings spread out on bigger screens instead of leaving empty space.
- Pages start right at the top, without a repeated title.
- New session (or Ctrl+K) finds any host or PC as you type, or connects to an address you type in.
Fixed
- Small bug fixes.
New
- A PC set up with a 6-digit setup code now shows whose account it's in, who connected recently, and a Leave this account button. It's set up to be controlled, so it doesn't show other PCs.
- Without an account, messages from the PC show right on the session, since chat needs an account.
Improved
- After Continue with Google or GitHub in the app, the browser tab lands on a proper RemoteAccessApp page, or your dashboard if you're signed in there.
- Set up this PC with a code is back in the Sign in window.
- Clearer wording when you're not signed in: connect to any PC with its code.
Fixed
- Small bug fixes.
New
- Run batch files: a new Batch (.bat) choice in Run a command, for multi-line batch scripts with labels and goto.
- Run a file: pick a .ps1, .bat, .cmd or .vbs file on your PC (or .sh for Linux PCs) and run it on another PC in one step, without saving it to Scripts first.
- Without an account, Devices shows the PCs you saved, so you can reconnect with one click.
- Connections works without an account: SSH and SFTP, up to 3 saved connections and 2 panes. Sign in free for everything else.
Improved
- Browser sessions on phones and tablets start on smooth video, so they're faster and less laggy.
Fixed
- Connecting with a code from the Windows app could wait forever without showing the Allow prompt on the other PC.
- If nobody answers the Allow prompt, the app now says so after a minute, with Try again.
- Small bug fixes.
New
- Use RemoteAccessApp without an account: install it, open it and connect. Home shows this PC's code to read to the person helping you, and a box to type someone else's code. They click Allow and you're in. On Windows and Linux.
- Recent PCs: every PC you connect to is kept on Home, so you can reconnect later with one click, without a new code.
- Sign in when you want to, not before: the Sign in button opens a small window over Home with Continue with Google, Continue with GitHub or email. Your Recent PCs come with you.
- An optional permanent password, set at the PC, for reaching your own PC from a new computer later.
Improved
- Codes are now 8 digits, like 4829 1530, and a new one shows after every session and every 10 minutes.
- Get help and Help someone are now both on Home, side by side, instead of behind separate buttons.
- The website's Help someone takes the new 8-digit codes as well as the older 9-digit ones.
Fixed
- The person at the PC can end a session from the banner with one click.
- Small bug fixes.
New
- Smoothness settings: sessions start at 30 frames per second. Free can choose 15 or 30, and Pro 45 or 60. The setting is now on the full-screen bar too.
- Switching screens is one click: the 1 | 2 | All buttons sit on the session toolbar and on every PC in the live sessions grid, with Ctrl+Alt+Shift+1-9 (and A for all screens) as shortcuts. On Windows and Linux.
Improved
- Much smoother, sharper sessions on Windows: the PC's graphics card now captures and encodes the screen, and the app decodes it on your graphics card, so frames go out faster and more evenly.
- H.264 is now the default video format. AV1 is only chosen when both PCs can handle it on their graphics cards.
- Fewer pauses on Wi-Fi and busy connections: the picture keeps flowing when the delay jumps around.
- The PC's mouse pointer moves as smoothly as the picture.
- Windows 11: a PC no longer gets stuck at a lower frame rate while RemoteAccessApp runs in the tray.
Fixed
- The "Updating RemoteAccessApp" window no longer freezes for several seconds: Hide works right away and the window can be moved.
- When you switch screens, the last picture stays up with "Switching to screen 2..." instead of going black, and your clicks wait for the new screen.
Fixed
- Ticking "Set up this PC for remote access now" at the end of setup now really sets the PC up: once you're signed in, the app adds this PC to your account and starts the Agent, so you can connect to it straight away.
New
- Sign in with Google or GitHub: click Continue with Google or Continue with GitHub, approve in your browser, and you're signed in. A first sign-in creates your free account, with no password to make up. On Windows, Linux and the website.
- Linux: Available after a restart. Turn it on in the Agent (What's allowed) and the PC signs in by itself after a restart and locks the screen at once, so you can connect and unlock it with your Linux password without anyone signing in at the PC.
Improved
- A new small web installer that always installs the latest version of RemoteAccessApp.
Fixed
- Linux: a PC set up from the terminal now starts the Agent when you sign in, and a moved or deleted install no longer leaves the Agent not starting.
New
- The website's dashboard shows a real, small picture of your PC's screen, refreshed every 30 seconds, for your own PCs with unattended access on. Other PCs say "Connect to see the screen" instead of showing an example picture.
- On a phone, the website lists your PCs as a compact table, one row per PC, so even 40 PCs are easy to scan. Switch between Cards and Table next to the search box.
Improved
- A PC you rename in the app now shows with that name on the website too.
- When you edit a saved host, a Show button next to the password lets you see it. A saved password asks for your RemoteAccessApp account password first. On Windows and Linux.
- The Connections page fits smaller windows and zoomed-in displays: its tabs switch to icons instead of being covered. On Windows and Linux.
- Linux: you can turn unattended access on or off for a PC from its menu in Devices, like on Windows.
Fixed
- More in a host's menu (and other menus with a sub-menu) opens again: Duplicate, Move to folder, Delete and Show password are back.
- A maximized RemoteAccessApp window no longer stops an auto-hidden Windows taskbar from appearing.
- The Unattended access option in a PC's menu has its icon again and shows a tick while it's on.
- AI assistants (MCP) now always see the newly chosen monitor right after switching.
New
- See a saved password in Connections: right-click a saved host and choose Show password. You confirm it's you with your RemoteAccessApp account password first. Handy when you've forgotten it or are moving the host. On Windows and Linux.
Fixed
- On some Windows PCs with several monitors, picking a single monitor no longer shows a black screen until something on it changes.
- AI assistants (MCP) now see the screen after their click, scroll or typing has finished, instead of just before.
New
- Control Task Manager and other programs that run as administrator on a Windows PC: click, move and use them like any other window. It works when RemoteAccessApp is installed for all users on that PC and unattended access is on.
Improved
- When a program running as administrator is in front and your clicks can't reach it, the message now says what to change on that PC to fix it.
- A new install opens the RemoteAccessApp Console straight away when it finishes.
Fixed
- After an automatic update, RemoteAccessApp opens again right away instead of up to half a minute later.
New
- AV1 video on any PC: when your connection is slow, or when you pick AV1, RemoteAccessApp now encodes AV1 on the processor, giving sharper text with about a third of the data. It works on Windows and Linux, and you no longer need a recent graphics card for it.
Improved
- The session shows which video codec is in use and why, for example "AV1 · CPU". If AV1 can't keep up, it steps down smoothly and tells you instead of failing silently.
- Windows and Linux apps decode AV1 themselves, so no extra Microsoft Store extension is needed.
Fixed
- Get help (one-time codes) works again.
New
- RemoteAccessApp for Windows is now signed by Rust Games Australia Pty Ltd, so Windows shows a verified publisher when you install it.
New
- RemoteAccessApp for Linux: one download with the Agent and the Console, for Ubuntu, Debian, Mint and more, on X11 and Wayland desktops. Control your other PCs from Linux, or reach a Linux PC from anywhere, unattended or with an Allow prompt.
- Linux PCs open a bash terminal: Run a command, the terminal in a session and Claude (MCP) use bash on Linux, and only offer Command Prompt, PowerShell and VBScript on Windows PCs.
- Open RemoteAccessApp straight from the Agent's window and tray.
Improved
- More apps can be connected to the same PC at once: several Consoles, browser tabs and AI assistants together, with at least three in a session at the same time. If a PC is ever full, you get a clear message saying so.
- Running a command on Windows and Linux PCs together labels which choices are Windows-only, and Linux PCs say so instead of failing.
- Management shows Linux PCs as not available yet, instead of asking you to update them.
- A stronger password check when you create an account or reset a password, with a strength meter as you type.
Fixed
- PCs no longer show as busy when several Consoles were open.
- Update checks for Linux PCs show the right status.
New
- Devices shows which version of Windows each PC runs, such as Windows 11 Pro 24H2, on its card, in the list and in a sortable OS column. Filter your PCs by system, or search for it.
Improved
- The website's PC list shows each PC's system too, with the same filter.
New
- Get help with a one-time code: choose Get help in the tray, read the 9-digit code to the person helping you, and click Allow when they connect. The code works once and expires after 10 minutes. No account needed.
- Help someone: type the code they read to you in Devices or on the website to see and control their PC, with their OK. Free for everyone, even on different accounts.
- You stay in control of a help session: end it any time with End on the banner, the tray menu or Ctrl+Alt+Shift+E. Help sessions can't send files or change settings, and end after an hour unless you keep going.
New
- Run a command on a PC without opening a session. If you can connect to it without a prompt, it runs straight away; otherwise the person at the PC sees the exact command and chooses Allow or Don't allow.
- VBScript: run .vbs scripts from Run a command, Scripts, Management jobs and quick tasks, alongside PowerShell and Command Prompt.
- Cloud servers in Connections: add your AWS (EC2 and Lightsail), DigitalOcean or Azure account, import your servers as SSH or RDP hosts, and start, stop or reboot them from their menu.
- Import saved sessions from PuTTY, MobaXterm, SecureCRT, a CSV file or your SSH config, with a preview before anything is added.
Improved
- More reliable updates: an update never installs while someone is connected to the PC, a failed update won't keep retrying, and the apps come back by themselves if an update can't finish.
- This PC's settings are saved more safely, so a crash or a busy disk can't take a PC out of your account.
- Check for updates on the Devices page always tells you the result.
- Security and reliability improvements.
Fixed
- A PC could stay on Connecting… until the app was restarted.
- Changing a PC's setup from the tray now applies the remote control setting straight away.
New
- Devices marks the PC you're using with a "This PC" label.
Improved
- Setting up a PC again now replaces its old entry in your account instead of adding a second one.
- Removing the PC you're using asks you to confirm and explains it goes offline until you set it up again. PCs with the same name show when each was set up and last online, so you can tell them apart.
- If a PC is removed from your account, its tray icon says so and offers to set it up again.
- The Claude Desktop button in AI assistants is gone for now. Claude Code setup works as before.
Fixed
- A PC could appear twice in your account after being set up again.
New
- Pro: connect Claude Desktop in one click from AI assistants. Sign in to Claude Desktop with your own Claude account and ask it to check or fix this PC, while you see, and can stop, everything it does.
Improved
- AI assistants now shows Claude Desktop by name when it's connected.
Improved
- Uses much less data: a PC stops sending its screen while nothing in the app shows it, for example while you're in Teams or Settings or the app is minimized. Its picture is back instantly when you return.
- The website's PC list only refreshes while you're looking at it.
Improved
- The update progress window now sits in the bottom-right corner, stays out of your way, can be moved, and has a Hide button.
Fixed
- The update window could stay in the middle of the screen and couldn't be moved.
New
- Quick tasks in Management: make your own one-click tasks from your scripts or any job, with the PCs and schedule you choose. Edit, reorder or remove them, or reset to the examples.
- Save as quick task: turn any task, schedule or job you've set up into a quick task.
Improved
- Quick tasks are the same in the app and on the website, and you always see the exact command before anything runs.
New
- Scripts in Management: create, edit, copy and delete your scripts right there, sort them into groups, add tags, and filter by group, tag or type. Run or schedule any script in a couple of clicks.
- Editing a script that a schedule uses warns you first, and the schedule runs the new version from then on.
Improved
- Scripts keep their group and type everywhere you use them, in the app and on the website.
New
- A short tour of the app the first time you sign in on a PC. Show it again any time from Help.
- Activity: see what happened on your PCs - sessions, file transfers and changes - and export it.

- Copying files between servers is easier to find: the Copy files tab, and Copy files to another server in each server's menu.
- Alert emails are now optional for each alert.
- The sign-in screen fits without scrolling, and setting up the tray now happens in the main app.
Fixed
- Saved workspaces didn't reopen your PCs.
New
- Set up this PC with a code: on the sign-in screen, enter the 6-digit code from another device to add this PC for remote access, without signing in here.
- Remove this PC from your account from the tray menu.
Improved
- Installing is simpler: one installer sets up both the Agent and the Console, just for you, with no admin rights and no Windows prompt. Updates install the same way.
- Signing out of the app now also removes this PC from your account, so nobody can reach it until you set it up again.
- Allow remote control in the tray menu can be switched at any time. Turning it off also turns off unattended access.
- When you turn on unattended access, the app explains that new browsers and apps need one Allow at the PC until you turn on two-step verification.
Fixed
- Install now installs straight away, even with connections open in the app. Updates still never install while someone is connected to your PC.
Fixed
- The Scripts page now always finds your open SSH terminal, also with several panes or All hosts on screen.
Fixed
- Scripts could say there was no terminal to send to while an SSH terminal was open. Paste and Run now find your open terminal.
New
- Pro is now on sale to everyone.
- Interrupted file transfers pick up where they stopped: large copies to and from your PCs, SFTP and FTP servers continue from the last good point instead of starting over. Paused copies show a Resume button.
- Connection health: see live speed, delay and quality during a session, with a one-click low-bandwidth mode for poor connections.
- Clipboard history shared between your PCs, including images.
- Help centre inside the app, with searchable guides linked from error messages.

Improved
- Temporary network problems during a copy are retried automatically, and permanent ones tell you why straight away.
- Security and reliability improvements.
Fixed

New

- Faster responses from the website and slightly lower memory use.
Fixed
- Updates no longer interrupt AI assistant connections (MCP) on your PC.
New
- Sessions reconnect by themselves: if the connection drops, the app shows Reconnecting and picks up again on its own, still following the PC's usual permission rules.
Improved
- A dropped connection is noticed in seconds instead of more than a minute, and the app shows Waiting for the PC instead of a frozen picture.
- Recovers by itself when your network changes, for example from Wi-Fi to mobile data.
- Faster connecting, and smoother sessions when several people are connected at once.

- Work with up to 8 sessions side by side in any mix, including several SFTP or FTP file sessions at once. Save your layouts as workspaces.
- Upload files to many servers at once, from this PC or from one server to the others. Pick the servers, choose what happens when a file already exists, and see each server's progress.
- Type text: when paste doesn't work, for example in a server's management console, the app types your text for you key by key. Undo removes what it typed.
- What's new: see what changed in each version, right in the app.
Improved
- If a window running as administrator blocks your clicks on the remote PC, you now get a message saying why.
- Updates wait until file transfers finish.
Fixed
- Saving two servers' keys at the same moment could lose one of them.
Improved
- Small fixes and improvements to automatic updates.
New
