Switch from Parsec

Switch from Parsec to a remote desktop built for support and IT

Parsec is a streaming tool, and its Personal plan is for non-commercial use only. Supporting people, running commands and managing servers is a different job.

RemoteAccessApp focuses on remote support and IT work on Windows PCs: consent and a banner, unattended access, commands on many PCs, and SSH, SFTP, RDP and VNC, free for 5 PCs for personal and work use.

  • Remote support and IT focus
  • Free for work, 5 PCs
  • Commands and SSH included

Fed up with Parsec? Here's what changes

  • Personal plan is non-commercial

With Parsec: Parsec's Personal plan is licensed for personal, non-commercial use only.

With RemoteAccessApp: RemoteAccessApp's free plan covers personal and commercial use for 5 PCs.

  • Streaming isn't support

With Parsec: Helping someone with a PC needs their say-so, a way to talk, and commands, not only a fast picture.

With RemoteAccessApp: An Allow prompt, a banner with chat, view-only and quit, and PowerShell or Command Prompt on the PC, free. There's no session timer either, which switching from Chrome Remote Desktop covers.

  • Another app for your servers

With Parsec: Game-grade streaming doesn't cover SSH, SFTP or RDP to your servers.

With RemoteAccessApp: SSH tabs, SFTP and FTP file managers, server-to-server copies, RDP and VNC in the same app.

More reasons to switch

  • Built around consent

The person at the PC clicks Allow (unless unattended access is on there) and sees a banner with chat, view-only and quit for the whole session. Once a PC is set up, you connect from your list with no new code each time, as switching from Quick Assist shows.

  • IT tools, free

PowerShell or Command Prompt on a PC, one command on many PCs, and processes, services and the Event Log side by side. Small business IT.

  • Servers too

SSH terminal tabs, SFTP and FTP file managers, server-to-server copies, and saved RDP and VNC connections.

  • Free for work

5 PCs and 5 saved hosts, 3 open at once, for personal and commercial use. It's the same free plan covered in switching from AnyDesk.

  • Browser access to your PCs

Open a PC from a phone, tablet, Mac or Chromebook in the browser, with touch controls on phones. Browser access is on every plan, as the NoMachine comparison points out.

Switch from Parsec if

  • You support other people's PCs and want them to see and control the session.
  • You run commands, check services or manage many PCs.
  • You also look after servers over SSH and SFTP.
  • You want work use on a free plan.

Switch from Parsec in 2 minutes

What carries over, what doesn't and tips for each kind of tool are in the switching guide.

  1. Step 1: Create a free RemoteAccessApp account

Sign up with your email. No card is needed, and the free plan covers 5 PCs.

  2. Step 2: Install RemoteAccessApp on each PC you want to reach

Download the installer, choose Set up this PC and sign in, or type the 6-digit setup code from Add a PC on your dashboard. It installs without administrator rights, next to Parsec.

  3. Step 3: Turn on unattended access on your own PCs

If nobody will be at a PC when you connect, switch on unattended access at that PC (right-click the RemoteAccessApp icon in the taskbar tray). How to do it safely.

  4. Step 4: Connect from the app or a browser

Open the RemoteAccessApp Console on your own PC, or sign in at remoteaccessapp.com in any browser, and try each PC while you still have the old tool as a fallback.

  5. Step 5: Remove what you no longer use

Once every PC works in RemoteAccessApp, uninstall the tools you don't need from Settings > Apps > Installed apps. Fewer ways in means fewer things to keep secure.
