Windows 10 and 11
Free remote desktop for Windows 10 and 11
RemoteAccessApp lets you see and control your Windows PCs from another PC, a browser or a phone. It's free for up to 5 PCs, works behind any home or office router, and never cuts your session off after a few minutes.
- Free for 5 PCs
- No port forwarding
- No session timers
Remote desktop that just works on Windows
Remote desktop should be simple: install a small app on the PC you want to reach, sign in on yours, and click to connect. That's how RemoteAccessApp's free remote desktop software for Windows works. There's no router to configure, no VPN to set up and no IP address to remember. Your PCs show up in your account with who's online, and you open one in a click.
RemoteAccessApp doesn't depend on the Remote Desktop feature that only some editions of Windows include. The RemoteAccessApp Agent runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11, Home and Pro editions alike, and installs just for the current user, so you don't need admin rights to set it up.
The person at the PC stays in charge. Unless they've turned on unattended access, the PC asks them to allow each connection and shows you nothing until they do. While you're connected, a banner on their screen says so, with a chat button and a switch to make your session view-only.
What you can do in a session
See and control the screen
The PC's screen, mouse and keyboard, live. Send the Windows key, Alt+Tab or Task Manager from the Keys menu.Quality and speed controls
Trade sharpness for speed on a slow link, or turn quality up for sharp text on a fast one.Several PCs side by side
Open PCs in tabs or a live grid, and use Mirror input to drive them together. Free opens 3 at once.Chat with the person there
Chat both ways during a session, and share pictures and files in the chat.Run commands
Open PowerShell or Command Prompt on the PC from the Windows app, or run one command on many PCs at once.No session timers
Stay connected as long as you need. If the network drops, RemoteAccessApp reconnects on its own.- Pro
Sound, files and clipboard
Hear the PC's sound, send and browse files, and copy and paste between PCs. - Pro
Every monitor
Free shows the PC's main screen. Switch between monitors, or see them all, with Pro.
Works through routers, with no port forwarding
Both ends connect out to RemoteAccessApp, which joins them. Nothing on your network has to accept connections from the internet.
Many remote desktop setups need a port opened on the router, which also exposes the PC to anyone scanning the internet. RemoteAccessApp avoids that entirely. From the RemoteAccessApp app, the session is encrypted end to end between your console and the PC, and the relay in the middle only forwards data it can't read. Read more in remote desktop without port forwarding.
If a session ever feels sluggish, it's usually down to delay, frame rate or the PC's upload speed. Remote desktop latency, explained simply covers why it lags and what actually helps.
How it works
Step 1: Install it on the PC you'll reach
Run the free installer, choose Set up this PC, and sign in or type the 6-digit setup code from your dashboard.Step 2: Open RemoteAccessApp on yours
Sign in to the Console on your own Windows PC, or to the website in any browser. Your PCs are listed with who's online.Step 3: Connect
Click the PC. Someone there clicks Allow, or it connects straight away if you've set up unattended access on it.
Free, with limits you can live with
The free plan isn't a trial. It's for personal and work use alike, with no card and no time limit. It covers up to 5 PCs and 5 saved hosts, with 3 open at once, and includes everything most people need to look after their own PCs or help a few others. If you're still comparing apps, our checklist for choosing remote desktop software covers the questions worth asking, from consent and encryption to what a free plan really includes.
Pro adds unlimited PCs, as many open at once as you like, sound and every monitor. File transfer and clipboard sync are free with an account, and everything in the free plan stays free.
