Switch from FileZilla
Switch from FileZilla: copy straight from server to server
FileZilla pairs your PC with one server at a time. Moving files between two servers means downloading them and uploading them again, and every command means switching to another app.
Copy straight from one SFTP or FTP server to another, streaming through your PC with no temporary copy, or upload the same files to many servers at once, with resume, retry and verify. SSH tabs, RDP and VNC are in the same app.
- Server-to-server copies
- Upload to many servers
- Resume and verify
Fed up with FileZilla? Here's what changes
Server to server is a round trip
With FileZilla: FileZilla's window pairs your PC with a server, so getting files from one server to another usually means downloading them, then uploading them again.
With RemoteAccessApp: A transfer tab streams files straight between two servers, with nothing saved to your disk and neither server signing in to the other. Switching from WinSCP explains how the stream works without a temporary file.
The same upload, server after server
With FileZilla: Deploying the same files to several servers means repeating the upload for each one.
With RemoteAccessApp: Upload to many servers at once, each into its own folder, after confirming the whole list.
No terminal
With FileZilla: FileZilla is a file transfer client, so running commands means a separate SSH client.
With RemoteAccessApp: SSH terminal tabs, saved scripts on many servers, RDP and VNC next to your file managers. If you use ssh in Windows Terminal now, going beyond ssh in Windows Terminal shows what saved hosts add.
More reasons to switch
Copy between two servers
Pick a server on each side of a transfer tab and copy or move files directly, with nothing saved to your PC's disk. Neither server signs in to the other. How it works.
Upload to many servers at once
Send the same files from your PC, or from one server, to every server you tick, each into its own folder, with a confirmation of the whole list first. Switching from Cyberduck covers these uploads too.
Resume, retry and verify
A dropped connection is retried automatically and continues where it stopped on SFTP, and Verify compares SHA-256 checksums where both sides can compute them.
SSH in the same app
SSH terminal tabs, scripts on many servers, and saved RDP and VNC connections next to your file managers. They're free for work, as switching from Xshell explains.
Safe by default
Files are written under a temporary name and only renamed into place once complete and checked, so a failed copy never leaves a half file under the real name.

FileZilla facts are from its official website and documentation as of October 2026; products change. RemoteAccessApp facts are for the current version. * Not listed: we didn't find it on FileZilla's official site when we checked, which doesn't mean it can't be done.
Switch from FileZilla if
- You copy files between servers and don't want to download and upload them again.
- You deploy the same files to several servers.
- You want SSH tabs, RDP and VNC next to your file manager. Switching from Solar-PuTTY covers the same mix.
Switch from FileZilla in 2 minutes
What carries over, what doesn't and tips for each kind of tool are in the switching guide.
Step 1: Install RemoteAccessApp and sign in
Download the free installer for Windows 10 or 11 and choose the Console. It installs without administrator rights. Create a free account if you don't have one.
Step 2: Bring your hosts across
On the Connections tab, Import from this PC… finds hosts in your SSH config file, saved .rdp files and Windows' recent Remote Desktop connections, and Import from file… reads a CSV file (there's a template to fill in). Add the rest by hand: address, port, user name and protocol. Your FileZilla setup stays as it is.
Step 3: Import your keys
Import your private keys for key sign-in: OpenSSH, PEM and PuTTY .ppk keys are read, passphrase-protected ones included. Passwords are never imported: you're asked for each one the first time, and can save it encrypted on your PC.
Step 4: Check each server's key and connect
The first time you connect, compare the host key fingerprint with the one you expect and trust it. A server whose key changes later is refused with a warning.
Step 5: Try a server-to-server copy
Click New transfer tab in the Connections tab (or press Ctrl+K and type transfer), pick a server on each side, and copy across. Server-to-server transfers.
