Switch from ConnectWise ScreenConnect
Switch from ScreenConnect: remote support for small IT, free to start
ConnectWise ScreenConnect is built for large help desks and service providers: paid plans after a trial, with command line access kept for its higher plans. For a small team, that's a lot of platform and a lot of cost.
RemoteAccessApp is free for 5 Windows PCs, for personal and work use: remote control with consent, commands on many PCs, Windows tools, and SSH, SFTP, RDP and VNC. Pro adds Teams with roles and per-PC permissions.
- Free for 5 PCs
- Commands on many PCs
- Teams and roles with Pro
Fed up with ConnectWise ScreenConnect? Here's what changes
A trial, then a subscription
With ConnectWise ScreenConnect: ScreenConnect offers a free trial; its plans are paid.
With RemoteAccessApp: Start free with 5 PCs and 5 saved hosts, for personal and commercial use, and add Pro only if you need it.
Command line on higher plans
With ConnectWise ScreenConnect: Its pricing page lists command line access, session recording and Wake-on-LAN on plans above its entry plan.
With RemoteAccessApp: PowerShell or Command Prompt on a PC, and one command on many PCs, are free.
A lot of platform for a few PCs
With ConnectWise ScreenConnect: Deployment choices, session rules and many plans are a lot to set up when you look after a handful of PCs.
With RemoteAccessApp: One installer, no admin rights, and your PCs on one Devices page within minutes. Switching from BeyondTrust looks at the same problem for small teams.
More reasons to switch
Start free
5 PCs and 5 saved hosts, 3 open at once, for personal and commercial use. No card, no trial clock. Pro removes the limits. There's no server of your own to run, either: switching from MeshCentral covers what a hosted relay saves you.
Visible by design
There's no hidden mode: a banner shows on the PC during every session, says when a command prompt is open, and names an AI assistant when one is connected.
Servers alongside PCs
SSH terminal tabs with scripts on many servers, SFTP and FTP file managers, server-to-server copies, and saved RDP and VNC connections.
Manage many PCs
Tag PCs and run a saved script, restart or install Windows updates on many PCs at once for free. With Pro, run scripts on a schedule and update apps with winget on many PCs at once, with the exact command shown first. The pages on switching from Atera and switching from Datto RMM set up the same tags and schedules.
Roles that the PC enforces (Pro)
Admin, Member or Viewer roles, and per-PC permissions for view, control, files, Windows tools and commands. The server signs them into each connection and the PC enforces them.

What carries over, what doesn't and tips for each kind of tool are in the switching guide.
Step 1: Create a free RemoteAccessApp account
Sign up with your email. No card is needed, and the free plan covers 5 PCs.
Step 2: Install RemoteAccessApp on each PC you want to reach
Download the installer, choose Set up this PC and sign in, or type the 6-digit setup code from Add a PC on your dashboard. It installs without administrator rights, next to ScreenConnect.
Step 3: Turn on unattended access on your own PCs
If nobody will be at a PC when you connect, switch on unattended access at that PC (right-click the RemoteAccessApp icon in the taskbar tray). How to do it safely.
Step 4: Connect from the app or a browser
Open the RemoteAccessApp Console on your own PC, or sign in at remoteaccessapp.com in any browser, and try each PC while you still have the old tool as a fallback.
Step 5: Move the team over
With Pro, create a team and share chosen PCs with colleagues, with a role for each person. Then remove agents you no longer use from the PCs. Small business IT.
