Switch from Datto RMM

Switch from Datto RMM to remote access you can start today

Datto RMM is a cloud RMM platform for managed service providers and small businesses, with pricing by quote and a 14-day trial requested through a contact-sales form. Its end-user consent prompt is Privacy Mode, a setting you enable per device.

If you need remote access to a few PCs today, RemoteAccessApp is free for 5, with consent on every PC by default, browser access and server tools. Download it and connect in minutes.

  • No quote or sales call
  • Consent by default
  • Free for 5 PCs

Fed up with Datto RMM? Here's what changes

  • A quote and a sales form

With Datto RMM: Datto's pricing page asks you to contact sales, and its trial is requested by submitting a contact-sales request.

With RemoteAccessApp: Download, sign in, connect. The free plan covers 5 PCs and 5 saved hosts, and Pro is a price on the website.

  • Consent is a per-device setting

With Datto RMM: Datto's documentation says that when Privacy Mode is enabled on a device, the end user is prompted to accept or deny connections.

With RemoteAccessApp: Every PC asks the person there first unless unattended access was switched on at that PC, and the banner always shows.

  • Servers need other tools

With Datto RMM: SSH and SFTP work on your Linux servers usually means another app.

With RemoteAccessApp: SSH terminal tabs, SFTP and FTP file managers, server-to-server copies, RDP and VNC in the same app. If your team uses WinSCP or Xshell for that today, switching from WinSCP and switching from Xshell cover what carries over.

More reasons to switch

  • Commands on many PCs, free

Run one command on several PCs with each one's output and exit code. Switching from Zoho Assist compares the same commands for support teams.

  • Scripts and updates

Saved scripts, restarts and Windows updates on many PCs at once for free. With Pro: schedules and winget.

  • Teams with roles (Pro)

Admin, Member or Viewer, with per-PC permissions the PC enforces.

What carries over, what doesn't and tips for each kind of tool are in the switching guide.

  1. Step 1: Create a free RemoteAccessApp account

Sign up with your email. No card is needed, and the free plan covers 5 PCs.

  3. Step 3: Turn on unattended access on your own PCs

If nobody will be at a PC when you connect, switch on unattended access at that PC (right-click the RemoteAccessApp icon in the taskbar tray). How to do it safely.

  4. Step 4: Connect from the app or a browser

Open the RemoteAccessApp Console on your own PC, or sign in at remoteaccessapp.com in any browser, and try each PC while you still have the old tool as a fallback.

  5. Step 5: Set up scripts and schedules

Tag your PCs and run scripts, restarts and Windows updates from the website's dashboard. With Pro, schedule them.
