Switch from Atera

Switch from Atera: remote access that's built in, not bolted on

Atera's remote access comes from other companies: its FAQ lists Splashtop, AnyDesk, TeamViewer and ScreenConnect as the remote access options, with some needing their own separate license. It's priced per technician, after a 30-day trial.

RemoteAccessApp's remote desktop is its own, in the app and in any browser, with consent at the PC, commands on many PCs, and SSH, SFTP, RDP and VNC. Free for 5 PCs.

  • Remote desktop built in
  • Free plan, not a trial
  • Browser access

Fed up with Atera? Here's what changes

  • Remote access through other products

With Atera: Atera's remote access FAQ lists Splashtop, AnyDesk, TeamViewer and ScreenConnect as its built-in options, and says some aren't included in the subscription unless you bring your own license.

With RemoteAccessApp: Remote control is part of RemoteAccessApp itself, in the Windows app and in any browser.

  • A trial, then per-technician pricing

With Atera: Atera offers a 30-day free trial, and its subscription FAQ describes per-technician pricing.

With RemoteAccessApp: Free for 5 PCs and 5 saved hosts, for personal and work use, with no trial clock. There's nothing to deploy first either, as switching from BeyondTrust explains.

  • Consent is a setting

With Atera: Atera's FAQ says you can choose to let the end user accept or reject the connection.

With RemoteAccessApp: Every PC asks the person there first unless unattended access was switched on at that PC, and the banner always shows. The same default comes up in switching from MeshCentral and switching from Datto RMM.

More reasons to switch

  • Commands on many PCs, free

Run one command on several PCs with each one's output and exit code.

  • Scripts and updates

Run saved scripts, restarts and Windows updates on many PCs at once for free. With Pro: schedules and winget installs.

  • Servers too

SSH terminal tabs, SFTP and FTP file managers, server-to-server copies, RDP and VNC.

  • Phone browser

Open your PCs from a phone's browser with touch controls. Technicians need nothing installed on a computer either, which moving from N-able covers.

What carries over, what doesn't and tips for each kind of tool are in the switching guide.

  1. Step 1: Create a free RemoteAccessApp account

Sign up with your email. No card is needed, and the free plan covers 5 PCs.

  2. Step 2: Install RemoteAccessApp on each PC you want to reach

Download the installer, choose Set up this PC and sign in, or type the 6-digit setup code from Add a PC on your dashboard. It installs without administrator rights, next to Atera.

  3. Step 3: Turn on unattended access on your own PCs

If nobody will be at a PC when you connect, switch on unattended access at that PC (right-click the RemoteAccessApp icon in the taskbar tray). How to do it safely.

  4. Step 4: Connect from the app or a browser

Open the RemoteAccessApp Console on your own PC, or sign in at remoteaccessapp.com in any browser, and try each PC while you still have the old tool as a fallback.

  5. Step 5: Set up your tags and scripts

Tag your PCs and run the scripts, restarts or Windows updates you used to run from the website's dashboard, free. With Pro, put them on a schedule.
