Remote access software

Free remote access software for your Windows and Linux PCs

RemoteAccessApp is free remote access software for Windows 10 and 11 and Linux PCs. Install it on the PCs you want to reach, then see and control them, move files and run commands from the app, a web browser or your phone. It's free for up to 5 PCs, with no card and no time limit on sessions.

Your PCs connect out to RemoteAccessApp, so there's no port forwarding or router setup. With unattended access you can reach your own PCs when nobody is there, and when you help someone else, they click Allow first and see a banner for the whole session.

  • Free for 5 PCs
  • Windows and Linux
  • No port forwarding

What you can do with it

  • Remote desktop

See a PC's screen and use its mouse and keyboard over the internet or your own network, with tabs and a grid for several PCs.

  • Commands without a session

Open PowerShell or Command Prompt on a PC, or run one command on many PCs at once and read each PC's output.
    Run a command remotely
  • Linux PCs too

The Linux app reaches Ubuntu, Debian, Mint and Fedora desktops on X11 or Wayland, and can reach your Windows PCs as well.

Get started in three steps

  1. Step 1: Install it on the PC

One free download for Windows 10 and 11 (Home editions too), or the Linux package. See Download.

  2. Step 2: Add the PC to your account

Create a free account and sign in, or add the PC with a 6-digit setup code. Turn on unattended access there if you want to reach it with nobody at it.

  3. Step 3: Connect from anywhere

Open the PC from RemoteAccessApp on another computer, or from any browser and your phone. It works behind home and office routers.

Secure remote access, with the person at the PC in charge

  • Sessions from the app are end-to-end encrypted, so the relay in between only forwards data it can't read. In a browser the connection is encrypted too, but not end to end.
  • Consent first: unless unattended access was turned on at the PC, the person there clicks Allow before anything is shown.
  • A banner stays on the remote PC's screen for as long as anyone is connected, with chat and an End button.
  • The person at the PC can switch you to view-only, or end the session, at any time.
  • No open ports: PCs connect out, so there's nothing on the router for scanners to find.
  • Nothing you see, type or run in a session is recorded, and the apps have no ads or trackers.

More on how accounts, sessions and updates are protected is on the security page and in the security white paper.

Free remote access, and what Pro adds

The free plan covers up to 5 of your PCs and 5 saved hosts, with 3 open at once, for personal and work use. It includes remote desktop, unattended access, browser access, chat, file transfer and clipboard sync, commands on one PC or many, Windows tools, and the SSH, SFTP, FTP, RDP and VNC clients. There's no card to enter and no session time limit.

Pro removes the limits and adds 60 frames per second, the PC's sound, every monitor, screenshots, password sync, Teams and the MCP Desktop Connection for AI assistants. Everything in the free plan stays free.

Choosing remote access software

Whatever you pick, check four things: whether the person at the PC is asked and can see a session, whether it needs ports opened on your router, what the free plan really allows (number of PCs, work use, session timers), and which systems it runs on. The guide to choosing remote desktop software walks through each one. If you're moving from another tool, the comparisons show what changes.
