Switch from BeyondTrust Remote Support

Switch from BeyondTrust: remote support without the enterprise rollout

BeyondTrust Remote Support is enterprise software: its documentation describes either a single-tenant cloud site it hosts for you or a B Series Appliance in your data center, where you own the updates, backups and network setup. There's a trial, not a free plan.

If you support a handful of Windows PCs, RemoteAccessApp gets you there in minutes: install, sign in, connect. Free for 5 PCs, with consent, commands and server tools.

  • Nothing to deploy
  • Free for 5 PCs
  • Consent and commands

Fed up with BeyondTrust Remote Support? Here's what changes

  • An appliance or a hosted site to set up

With BeyondTrust Remote Support: BeyondTrust's documentation describes Remote Support Cloud as a single-tenant site it hosts, or a B Series Appliance in your own data center where you own the updates, backups and network setup.

With RemoteAccessApp: Nothing to deploy: install RemoteAccessApp on a PC, sign in, and it's on your Devices page.

  • A trial, not a free plan

With BeyondTrust Remote Support: BeyondTrust offers a Remote Support trial.

With RemoteAccessApp: RemoteAccessApp's free plan stays free for 5 PCs and 5 saved hosts, for personal and work use. It's a plan, not a trial, the same one described in switching from Atera.

  • A lot of platform for a small team

With BeyondTrust Remote Support: Jump clients, gateways and representative consoles are a lot to learn when you look after a few PCs.

With RemoteAccessApp: One Windows app, or any browser: your PCs, your servers and your saved hosts in one place. Technicians can work from a browser with no viewer to install, which switching from N-able covers too.

More reasons to switch

  • Consent by default

An Allow prompt on every PC unless unattended access is on there, and a banner during every session. An unanswered prompt is denied, as the Action1 comparison explains.

  • Commands on many PCs

Run one command, a saved script or Windows updates on several PCs with each one's output and exit code, free. With Pro, schedules and winget apps too, as switching from NinjaOne shows.

  • Teams with roles (Pro)

Admin, Member or Viewer, with per-PC permissions the PC enforces, and an activity log.

  • Servers too

SSH terminal tabs, SFTP and FTP file managers, server-to-server copies, RDP and VNC.

Switch from BeyondTrust Remote Support if

  • You look after a small number of Windows PCs and want to start today. Switching from Datto RMM makes the same case for skipping the sales call.
  • You don't want an appliance or a hosted site to manage.
  • You want server tools in the same app.

Switch from BeyondTrust Remote Support in 2 minutes

What carries over, what doesn't and tips for each kind of tool are in the switching guide.

  1. Step 1: Create a free RemoteAccessApp account

Sign up with your email. No card is needed, and the free plan covers 5 PCs.

  2. Step 2: Install RemoteAccessApp on each PC you want to reach

Download the installer, choose Set up this PC and sign in, or type the 6-digit setup code from Add a PC on your dashboard. It installs without administrator rights, next to BeyondTrust.

  3. Step 3: Turn on unattended access on your own PCs

If nobody will be at a PC when you connect, switch on unattended access at that PC (right-click the RemoteAccessApp icon in the taskbar tray). How to do it safely.

  4. Step 4: Connect from the app or a browser

Open the RemoteAccessApp Console on your own PC, or sign in at remoteaccessapp.com in any browser, and try each PC while you still have the old tool as a fallback.

  5. Step 5: Bring in your team

With Pro, create a team, share chosen PCs and give each person a role. Small business IT.
