Switch from Royal TS

Switch from Royal TS: your connections plus the PCs behind any router

Royal TS keeps your connections tidy, but its RDP and VNC connections are clients for those protocols: a PC behind a home or office router still needs a VPN, a gateway or port forwarding before you can reach it.

RemoteAccessApp keeps your RDP, VNC, SSH, SFTP and FTP hosts and web admin panels in tabs too, and adds remote desktop to your Windows PCs through any router, with no ports to open.

  • Hosts and PCs in one app
  • PCs through any router
  • Free for 5 PCs and 5 hosts

Fed up with Royal TS? Here's what changes

  • PCs behind routers

With Royal TS: Its RDP and VNC connections are clients for those protocols, so reaching a PC behind a home or office router is up to your network: a VPN, a gateway or port forwarding.

With RemoteAccessApp: PCs with the free Agent connect out, so you control them from anywhere with nothing opened on the router.

  • Server to server is a round trip

With Royal TS: Copying files from one server to another usually means downloading them to your PC, then uploading them again.

With RemoteAccessApp: Stream files straight between two SFTP or FTP servers, with nothing saved to your disk, or upload to many servers at once. Switching from FileZilla goes through these copies in detail.

  • No browser fallback

With Royal TS: Away from your own computer, you need one of its apps installed.

With RemoteAccessApp: Your PCs and SSH hosts open in any browser at remoteaccessapp.com.

More reasons to switch

  • Reach PCs behind any router

Your Windows PCs run the free RemoteAccessApp Agent and connect out, so you see and control them from anywhere with no VPN or port forwarding. Remote desktop for Windows.

  • Server-to-server copies

Stream files from one SFTP or FTP server to another without a temporary copy on your PC, or upload to many servers at once. Server-to-server transfers.

  • Your hosts on every PC, and in a browser

Your host list follows your account to every PC you sign in on and shows on the website, where SSH hosts open in a browser terminal. If you also use Cyberduck for files, switching from Cyberduck covers the same synced host list from the file-transfer side.

  • Commands on many PCs and servers

Run one command on many PCs, or a saved script on many SSH hosts, with each one's output and exit code.

  • Remote support with consent

Help someone with their PC: they click Allow and see a banner with chat, view-only and quit.

What carries over, what doesn't and tips for each kind of tool are in the switching guide.

  1. Step 1: Install RemoteAccessApp and sign in

Download the free installer for Windows 10 or 11 and choose the Console. It installs without administrator rights. Create a free account if you don't have one.

  2. Step 2: Bring your hosts across

On the Connections tab, Import from this PC… finds hosts in your SSH config file, saved .rdp files and Windows' recent Remote Desktop connections, and Import from file… reads a CSV file (there's a template to fill in). Add the rest by hand: address, port, user name and protocol. Your Royal TS setup stays as it is.

  3. Step 3: Import your keys

Import your private keys for key sign-in: OpenSSH, PEM and PuTTY .ppk keys are read, passphrase-protected ones included. Passwords are never imported: you're asked for each one the first time, and can save it encrypted on your PC.

  4. Step 4: Check each server's key and connect

The first time you connect, compare the host key fingerprint with the one you expect and trust it. A server whose key changes later is refused with a warning.

  5. Step 5: Add your PCs

Install RemoteAccessApp on the Windows PCs you reach, choose Set up this PC, and they appear on the Devices page next to your hosts. Access your PC remotely.
