Discord and Slack commands
Link Discord or Slack to your account to check your PCs, see alerts and restart a PC with /pc, and post account events to a channel.
Link your Discord or Slack account to your RemoteAccessApp account and type /pc to see which PCs are online, check one, read your latest alerts or restart a PC. Discord and Slack commands are part of RemoteAccessApp Pro.
Link Discord or Slack
- Sign in on the website and open Discord & Slack on the dashboard. In the app: Settings → Notifications → Slack, Discord, Teams & webhooks, then Open Discord & Slack.
- Choose Connect Discord (you can use /pc anywhere in Discord, also in direct messages), Add to a Discord server (for a server you manage), or Add to Slack.
- Sign in to Discord or Slack and allow access. You come back to the dashboard, which lists the link.
- Type /pc help in Discord or Slack.
Each person links their own Discord or Slack account. Someone who hasn't linked one gets a message saying how to, and nothing else.
The commands
- /pc list: your PCs, and PCs a team shares with you, with which are online.
- /pc status name: one PC: online or not, when it was last seen, its version and any active alerts.
- /pc restart name: restart a PC (see below).
- /pc alerts: your latest monitoring alerts.
- /pc help: what /pc can do.
In Slack, type the PC's name after the command, like /pc status OFFICE-PC. A name can be the start of the PC's name, as long as only one PC matches.
Restarting a PC from chat
/pc restart never restarts anything straight away. It shows Restart and Cancel buttons that only you see and that work once, for 2 minutes. When you press Restart:
- it runs as a normal Management restart, with the same rules as the dashboard: you need Pro, PC management, and for a team's PC the Control and Windows tools & commands permissions from teams and roles;
- the person at the PC gets at least a minute's notice and can postpone it;
- the PC's maintenance window and its own settings still apply;
- it shows in Management → Jobs and in the activity log.
Who sees what
- Every answer is only visible to you. Nobody else in the channel sees your PCs.
- Answers name PCs and what happened. They never include passwords, typed text, clipboard or file contents.
- RemoteAccessApp keeps only who you are on Discord or Slack (your user id and name) and the workspace's name. Nothing else from your Discord or Slack account is kept.
- Each command is checked again when you run it, with what your account may do at that moment.
- Commands are limited to a few a minute per person.
- A linked chat account can ask to restart your PCs, so keep it protected, and use two-factor sign-in on your RemoteAccessApp account too.
If your account only allows its Trusted networks, commands from chat are turned off for it, because they don't come from your own network.
Unlink
Open Discord & Slack on the dashboard and click Remove next to the link. Commands from that Discord or Slack account stop at once. To remove the app from Discord or Slack too, do it in their settings.
Channel notifications
To post account events to a channel (someone connects, a PC goes offline, an alert fires), add a destination under Alerts → Slack, Discord, Teams & webhooks. Choose which events each one gets and use Send test message to check it works. These need no linking.
If something doesn't work
- "This Discord account isn't linked": link it on the dashboard, from the same Discord or Slack account you type in.
- "Wait a minute and try again": too many commands in a short time.
- The buttons say they expired: run the command again. Each button works once, for 2 minutes, and only for the person who asked.
- You can't restart a PC: ask the team's owner for the Control and Windows tools & commands permissions on it.
If your problem isn't listed here, search the Help Center for the message you see.
Still stuck? Email [email protected] with your app version (Settings, About) and what you were trying to do. In the app, Help, Contact support fills that in.
