Teams and roles

Share chosen PCs and saved hosts with the people you work with, give each one a role, and set what they may do on each PC.

A team lets you share exactly the PCs and saved hosts each person needs, without sharing your account. Teams are part of RemoteAccessApp Pro, and everyone in the team needs Pro. Free, Pro and billing explains what Pro includes and how to get it.

Start a team and invite people

  1. Open Teams in the app, or Team on the website dashboard, and click Start a team.
  2. Type their email, pick the PCs, saved hosts and role they get, and click Send invite. We email them the invite.
  3. They click Accept: in the email, or in Teams (app) or the dashboard (website) when they sign in with that email. The invite works for 7 days, only for the account with that email, once it is confirmed.
  4. Want to send it faster, over chat or in person? Click Copy invite link and paste it to them. Pending invites have Copy invite link, Resend email and Cancel invite.

Shared PCs show up in their Devices page, and shared hosts in their saved hosts.

Roles

  • Owner: the person who started the team. Can do everything.
  • Admin: invites people and manages their access to the PCs they manage. Admins manage members and viewers, and never give more than they have.
  • Member: uses the PCs shared with them, with the permissions you set.
  • Viewer: can only watch. A viewer never controls a PC.

Permissions on each PC

For each person and PC you choose: View, Control, Files, Windows tools & commands (shown as Tools & cmds in the app) and Manage access (Manage).

The same permissions apply to Discord and Slack commands: restarting a team's PC from chat needs Control and Windows tools & commands.

Lots of PCs: rules, bulk access and tags

  • Access rules give someone (or everyone with a role) access by rule: All PCs, PCs tagged …, Windows PCs or Linux PCs, with the permissions to give. New PCs that match get access by themselves, and a PC that loses the tag loses it. You can leave single PCs out of a rule.
  • Access… on a person opens a two-pane editor: filter your PCs by system, tag or online, Select all matching, and give, change or remove access in one go (or drag PCs across). Each PC shows why they can reach it: Direct, via a rule, or left out of a rule.
  • Tag selected PCs in Devices adds or removes tags on many PCs at once.
  • A PC's menu has Who can reach this PC and Access history. Every change is in the team's audit log. Pro accounts can also export the last 90 days of their activity log, as privacy and your data explains.

Sharing never turns on unattended access. The PC still asks the person there with the Allow prompt, unless it trusts that console.

Status pills

Pending (invited, not joined yet), Joined, Needs Pro and Paused (Teams pause while someone in the team doesn't have Pro).
