Getting started
Recent PCs: reconnect without a new code
Every PC you connect to with a code is kept in Recent PCs on your computer, so you can reconnect later with one click. How many you can keep.
When you connect to a PC with its one-time code, RemoteAccessApp keeps it in Recent PCs on Home, under the code box. Next time, click it to reconnect. No new code needed.
Reconnect
- Open RemoteAccessApp. Recent PCs shows each PC's name and when you last connected.
- Click the PC. It needs to be switched on and online.
What happens next depends on the PC:
- If the person there ticked Let this console connect without asking next time when they allowed you, and Unattended access is on at that PC, you go straight in. On a PC that isn't in an account, unattended access stays off until someone at that PC turns it on.
- If the PC has a permanent password, you can type it instead of waiting for someone to allow you.
- Otherwise the person at the PC is asked to allow you, like the first time.
The banner shows on the PC for the whole session either way, with its End button.
If the PC is a virtual machine that was cloned, each copy gets its own key, so a Recent PC saved for the original doesn't open a copy. See clone a VM that's in your account.
Rename or remove a PC
Use the menu next to a PC in Recent PCs to rename it (for example "Mum's laptop") or remove it.
The person at the PC can also stop your computer from finding it again: in RemoteAccessApp on that PC, the list of trusted consoles also shows the computers that can find this PC, each with Remove.
How many you can keep
- Free: 5 PCs, on top of the 5 PCs in your account.
- Pro: no limit.
Recent PCs are kept on your computer only. When you sign in, they move into your account and follow you to every computer you sign in on. See use it without an account.
Recent PCs never show a short ID you could type somewhere else. Each one holds a long, private key that only works from your computer.
