Getting started
Connect to your first PC
Install RemoteAccessApp, add the PC you want to reach with a 6-digit setup code, then open it from the Console or a web browser.
Just want to help someone, or get help, once? You don't need an account for that: see one-time codes. A PC you reach with a code stays in Recent PCs, so you can reconnect later without a new code. This article adds your own PCs to an account, so you can reach them from anywhere, including a phone or a browser.
What you need
- A free RemoteAccessApp account. Create one in the app with Create an account, or on the website. Already using it without one? Sign in and your Recent PCs move into the account: see use it without an account, sign in later.
- The PC you want to reach, with Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and the RemoteAccessApp Agent. The Agent is free.
- Somewhere to connect from: the RemoteAccessApp Console on another Windows PC, or any web browser.
The free plan covers up to 5 PCs and 5 saved hosts, with 3 open at once. No card needed.
Install RemoteAccessApp
- Get the installer from the Download page and run it. If Windows says "Windows protected your PC", see the SmartScreen warning.
- On a PC you want to reach, choose Set up this PC for remote access. On the PC you'll connect from, choose Set up this PC and install the Console (to control other PCs).
- Open the Console and click Sign in at the top right.
Add the PC you want to reach
- In the Console, click Add a PC on the Home or Devices page. You get a 6-digit setup code. It works once, for 10 minutes.
- On the other PC, when setup asks, choose Setup code and type the 6 digits. You can sign in with your account there instead.
- Choose what's allowed: Allow mouse & keyboard control (off means the screen can be viewed but not controlled) and Start RemoteAccessApp with Windows (so the PC can be reached after a restart).
- Click Set up this PC. The PC shows up on your Devices page within a few seconds, wherever it is.
The setup code only adds a PC to your account, once. It can't sign in or see anything.
Adding several virtual machines? Set up one with a setup code and unattended access, then clone a VM that's in your account: each copy joins as a new PC with the same settings.
What the other PC shows afterwards
If someone opens the RemoteAccessApp app on that PC without signing in, Home says the PC is connected to your account (with your email), whether it's online, who connected recently, and its own code in case the person there needs help. That PC is set up to be controlled, so it can't open your other PCs: Devices and Connections are hidden there until someone signs in.
To take the PC out of your account, click Leave this account on that Home and confirm. Nobody in your account can connect to it after that. You can also remove it from the Devices page.
Open it
Click the PC's tile on the Devices page. The first time your console connects, the person at the PC clicks Allow (see the Allow prompt). To reach a PC when nobody is there, set up unattended access.
Not at a Windows PC? Sign in on the website and open your PCs in the browser, on a Mac, a Chromebook, a phone or a tablet. See access your PC from a browser. The RemoteAccessApp docs gather every setup step, help article and guide in one place.
Reach the PC you're using now
To reach the PC the Console runs on from somewhere else, go to Home, find the This PC card and click Set up this PC.
Still stuck? Email [email protected] with your app version (Settings, About) and what you were trying to do. In the app, Help, Contact support fills that in.
