Servers and SSH
Hosts and sessions
Find a saved server or PC on the Hosts tab, open sessions as tabs, duplicate a tab to open the same host again, and use it all from the keyboard.
The five tabs
The Connections page has five tabs along the top: Hosts, Sessions, Copy files, Scripts and Keys & passwords. Switching tabs never closes anything. Ctrl+Shift+H goes between Hosts and Sessions.
Hosts
Every server, PC and web panel you saved, as cards or as a list.
- Search finds a host by name, address, user, folder or tag. Type an address and press Enter to connect without saving it.
- The chips under the search show All, Favorites or one folder.
- Connect opens a session. Files opens an SSH server's files. … has the rest: edit, duplicate, move to a folder, run a script, server dashboard, copy files to another server, delete.
- Import brings hosts in from this PC, a file or a cloud account (see import saved sessions and hosts), and adds web panels, serial consoles and folders. Add host saves a new one.
- Check now sees which hosts answer. Nothing signs in.
- Your RemoteAccessApp PCs are listed at the end, under Your PCs.
Sessions as tabs
Every session you open is a tab on the Sessions tab. Tabs can sit side by side in one, two, three, four, six or eight panes: see split view and workspaces.
- Click a tab to show it. Drag a tab to change the order, or onto another pane to move it there.
- Right-click a tab for its menu: Reconnect, Duplicate, move it to another pane, split right or down, and close.
- If a connection drops, the tab says so and shows Reconnect. An SSH terminal tries again by itself.
- Broadcast types one command into several SSH tabs. For your PCs, you can control several PCs at once by mirroring your mouse and keyboard.
Duplicate a session
Want two terminals on the same server, or a second file tab next to the first? Right-click the tab and pick Duplicate, or press Ctrl+Shift+D. A new tab of the same host and type (SSH, SFTP, FTP, Remote Desktop, VNC, serial or web panel) opens right next to it and signs in with the same saved details. It's named after the host with a number, such as web-01 (2). Duplicate is also in the pane's … menu.
Your own RemoteAccessApp PCs have one session each, so their tabs have no Duplicate.
Start a session
Click + New session (or press Ctrl+K or Ctrl+T). Search your hosts, pick a group, or type the address of a server or PC and choose how to connect. Add a host and Manage hosts are at the bottom.
When nothing is open, the Sessions tab has a box to type an address and your recent hosts.
Keyboard and screen readers
Everything works from the keyboard:
- Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab go to the next and previous tab in a pane. Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+8 jump to a pane.
- Ctrl+Shift+D duplicates the tab. Ctrl+Shift+PgUp and Ctrl+Shift+PgDn move it along its row of tabs.
- Ctrl+Shift+M makes one pane fill the page; Esc puts it back. Ctrl+W closes the tab.
- Keys typed into a terminal or a remote desktop go to that session.
The ⓘ button next to New session lists every shortcut.
Without an account
You can save three connections and have three open, with SSH and SFTP, in up to two panes. Sign in free to lift these limits.
